The Grove is a Queer, Black and People of Colour owned business located in Chinatown South, the traditional and un-ceded territory of the Algonquin Anishinaabe.
Our collective art space is a home for creativity, empowerment, and mutual respect. We created this space to be safe, welcoming, and inclusive for queer and IBPOC artists and allies. Our code of conduct reflects our shared values and expectations for everyone involved in our space, whether you are a member or a guest, ensuring that our community thrives in mutual respect and solidarity. In our space we prioritize Inclusivity, Acountability, Consent, Community Engagement and Conflict Resolution. Authenticity
We strive to bring our full selves to this work so that the space we create is a space we can thrive in ourselves. We are honest about what we can do or not yet, and always strive to learn and grow. We have created this space because we wanted to have a space where we could be ourselves and show up authentically because that’s when we tap into our full creativity

Maximize joy
Ever since we met, we’ve tried to maximize joy in everything we do in small and big ways. As queer people of colour, we want this project to fill our cups. Maximizing joy has always been our joint compass in the things we do together.
We collaborate with people who are aligned with our values
We are driven by creating art through joy and doing it in a way that creates joy
When we don’t maximize joy, we can’t show up authentically and we lose our integrity
Integrity
Integrity to us means to center honesty, fairness, and equity in our decisions. It means being accountable to ourselves and our community by being honest about our intentions and being open to change and growth. Integrity means running our business in a way that aligns with our ethics and roles in countering oppression in our communities.

Adrienne
About Adrienne (She/Her) Co-Founder
is a Queer-Lightskin Black visual specialist working on the unceded, unsurrendered Territory of the Anishinaabe Algonquin Nation, specifically the so-called Ottawa. Adrienne is not just about visuals but about building a community. Whether supporting local talents or advocating for important causes, Adrienne believes in the power of creativity to strengthen communities. When not behind the camera, Adrienne owns and runs The Grove Studio, a chill creative space, along with her business partner and frequent collaborator Hingman. You might have seen Adrienne’s work featured in places like CBC News, and The Narwhal. Adrienne was also part of the group exhibitions and national campaigns across Canada.

About Hingman (She/They) Co-Founder
is a multi-award filmmaker and the co-founder of Firegrove Studio, the first all-Women-of-Colour full-service content creation & production company based in unceded Algonquin Territory, and their feature documentary I Am: Limitless recently aired on CBC and CBC Gem.
