The Grove Studio
Studio Use Agreement and Policies
By booking or using The Grove Studio, the individual making the reservation (“Client”) agrees to the following studio policies and accepts responsibility for all guests and activities during the booking.
Booking Times
All studio bookings include setup and teardown within the reserved booking window. Access to the studio is permitted only during the scheduled booking time. Clients must ensure that all guests, equipment, and materials are removed and that the studio is returned to its original condition before the end of the booking period.
Overage Policy
Use of the studio beyond the scheduled booking time constitutes an overage. Overage time will be billed at $120 CAD per hour plus applicable HST.
Overage time is calculated from the scheduled end of the booking until the studio has been fully vacated and returned to its original condition. Overage charges may be billed in 30 minute increments, are subject to studio availability, and may be charged to the payment method on file or invoiced to the client responsible for the booking.
Client Responsibility
The individual who makes the booking (“Client”) is responsible for all guests attending the booking, their conduct while in the studio, and any damage to the studio, furniture, equipment, or building areas during the booking period.
The Client agrees to reimburse The Grove Studio for reasonable repair, replacement, or cleaning costs resulting from damage, misuse, or failure to restore the space to its original condition.
Studio Capacity and Guests
The number of guests permitted in the studio must remain within reasonable occupancy limits and building safety regulations. The Client is responsible for ensuring that all guests follow studio policies.
Large productions, events, or workshops should be communicated in advance to ensure the space can safely accommodate the group.
Furniture and Equipment
Furniture and studio equipment may be moved carefully within the studio but must be returned to their original locations before the end of the booking.
Dragging furniture across floors, standing on furniture, or using furniture in ways that may cause damage is not permitted. Any damage to furniture, equipment, flooring, or walls may result in repair or replacement charges.
Cleanliness and Studio Condition
Clients are expected to leave the studio in the same condition it was found. This includes removing personal items, returning furniture and equipment to their original locations, and disposing of garbage appropriately.
Certain materials require prior approval due to cleaning requirements or potential damage risks. These may include glitter, confetti, paint, oils, or similar materials that may stain surfaces.
Additional cleaning fees may apply if the studio requires significant cleaning after a booking.
Inclusive and Sex Positive Studio Policy
The Grove Studio is a sex positive and inclusive space. We welcome photographers, artists, performers, and creators working in boudoir, erotic art, adult content production, and other forms of consensual adult expression.
Consensual adult content creation, including work by sex workers and adult content creators, is permitted in the studio provided that all activities:
• comply with Canadian and Ontario law
• involve consenting adults aged 18 or older
• respect building rules and safety requirements
• do not cause damage to the studio or building
The Grove Studio supports the rights and safety of sex workers, artists, and creators. Clients are expected to maintain a respectful and professional environment for all participants.
Consent and Safety
All participants involved in any production or activity within the studio must provide informed consent and must be 18 years of age or older.
The Client is responsible for ensuring that all individuals present during the booking understand the nature of the production and have agreed to participate.
Any activity involving coercion, harassment, exploitation, or non consensual conduct is strictly prohibited.
Content and Activity Restrictions
While The Grove Studio supports a wide range of creative and adult content production, certain activities are not permitted in order to comply with law, safety standards, and building rules.
Activities that are not permitted include:
• any activity that is illegal under Canadian or Ontario law
• activities involving individuals under the age of 18
• unsafe activities that may create risk to participants or the building
• actions that may damage floors, walls, furniture, or fixtures
• excessive noise or conduct that significantly disrupts other tenants
Activities that may require prior approval include:
• use of smoke or fog machines
• use of open flames or candles
• large production equipment
• large crews or group productions
If studio staff observe an activity that appears to violate these policies, the Client will first be notified and given the opportunity to correct or stop the activity.
For example, if a fog machine is used without prior approval, staff may request that the equipment be turned off due to building ventilation rules. If the activity stops when requested, the booking may continue normally.
If the activity continues after notice, The Grove Studio reserves the right to end the booking early for safety or compliance reasons.
Parking
Free street parking may be available around the building and the closest paid parking lot is located at 301 Preston Street.
If a parking permit is reserved during the booking process, the permit will be provided at the start of the booking. The parking lot is located at 360 Catherine Street Lot 5, approximately a 10 minute walk from the studio.
The permit must be displayed with the barcode facing the windshield and may be used in any available space within the lot. The permit must be returned to the studio before the end of the booking period.
Lost or unreturned parking permits will incur a $100 replacement fee charged to the Client.
Studio Location and Building Access
The Grove Studio is located at 18 Louisa Street, Unit 280, Ottawa, Ontario.
Please enter through the East side of the building on Louisa Street between Lebreton Street and Bell Street.
Do not enter through the Arlington Street ground floor entrance, as that entrance leads to a private gym and does not provide access to the building.
At the entrance, use the intercom and dial 2800 or select “The Grove.” Proceed to the elevator and go to the second floor, turn right toward Stairwell A, and the studio door will be located on the left just before Stairwell A.
Security Deposit and Damage Charges
The Grove Studio reserves the right to require a security deposit or hold a damage authorization on the payment method used for the booking.
This deposit may be used to cover reasonable costs associated with damage, excessive cleaning, missing items, or violations of studio policies.
Normal wear and tear will not result in charges.
Cancellation Policy
Bookings may be cancelled or rescheduled up to 30 days before the scheduled booking date for a full refund.
Cancellations or rescheduling requests made within 30 days of the booking date are non refundable.
Failure to attend a scheduled booking without notice will be considered a no show and the booking fee will be forfeited.
